The Wisconsin AFL-CIO reported at about 2:30 p.m. today that more than a million signatures were collected for the recall of Republican Gov. Scott Walker.

The petitions were to be handed in to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board this afternoon for validation.

The AFL-CIO statement said, “Together, union members and tens of thousands of grassroots volunteers have collected enough signatures to force special recall elections.”

Petitions call for the recall of Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and state Sens. Pam Galloway, Terry Moulton, Scott Fitzgerald and Van Wanggaard.

In addition to the million-plus signatures for the Walker recall, the signature totals, according to the release, are:

• Kleefisch, 845,000

• Moulton of Chippewa Falls, 21,000-plus

• Galloway of Wausau, 21,000-plus

• Wanggaard of Racine, 24,000

• Fitzgerald, 20,600

United Wisconsin, the grassroots recall campaign, and its partners planned to hold a celebration rally at 5 p.m. today at Monona Terrace, 1 John Nolen Drive, Madison.
