FIGHTING FOR FAIR ELECTIONS: A town hall for fair election maps takes place at 6 p.m. Sept. 12 at Washington Park Library, 2121 N. Sherman Blvd., Milwaukee. Speakers include Shauntay Nelson of Wisconsin Voices and former state lawmakers Dale Schultz, a Republican, and Tim Cullen, a Democrat. Sponsors include Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Fair Elections Project, Wisconsin Voices, the ACLU and other groups. ANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT?: The Sustainable Saturday Night program and potluck is a joint project of the Eastside Planning Council, the Emerson East Neighborhood Association’s Sustainability Task Force and the James Reeb Peace, Justice and Sustainability Group. REAL ENVIROMENTAL PROTECTION ASSEMBLY: The New People Environmental Summit takes place 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Nekoosa Ho-Chunk Casino, 949 County Road G, Nekoosa. The summit is “bringing native people and the rest of us together in protecting our environment for the next seven generations.” Speakers include Kimberly Wright of Midwest Environmental Advocates, Indian County News publisher Paul Demain, Ho-Chunk tribal member John Greendeer and activist-scientist Juliee de la terra.
