CONVERGING FOR CONFLUENCE Last year, the Milwaukee Water Commons hosted its first Confluence Gathering, with the goal of making Milwaukee a “model water city” with a clear Water City Agenda. Teams since have been working on the agenda, and those who attend the second Confluence Gathering Oct. 12 can expect to learn about the effort. RIGHTS AND RESISTANCE The ACLU of Wisconsin marks “a year of resistance” during its 2017 Bill of Rights Celebration Nov. 8 at the Italian Conference Center, 631 E. Chicago St., Milwaukee. The ACLU plans to honor Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin during the gala, as well as the youth plaintiffs from Lincoln Hills School for Boys and Copper Lake School for Girls. STAND WITH PLANNED PARENTHOOD Planned Parenthood Federation of America recently announced a partnership with OkCupid, a dating website and app. On OkCupid, users can designate #IStandWithPP by associating a new badge with their profiles. IT’S ON YOU, IT’S ON US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has indicated the department plans to weaken protections under Title IX for survivors of sexual assaults on campus.
