#GivingTuesday on Nov. 29 promotes giving and philanthropy
Entering its fifth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
Created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact, #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for the purpose of celebrating and encouraging giving.
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season when many are focusing on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
One of the best ways for people to get involved is in their own community. #GivingTuesday has created a directory to help find organizations, charities, events and more in one’s own community, at givingtuesday.org/whats-happening-near-me.
