Milwaukee women lead early vote march Oct. 15 to defeat Trump and Johnson

Voces de la Frontera Action, Service Employees International Union and the Fight for $15 will hold a rally and march to the polls on Saturday, Oct. 15 to vote for Russ Feingold for Senate and Hillary Clinton for President. The rally takes place at the Cesar Chavez statue at El Rey, 916 S. Cesar and E. Chavez Dr. in Milwaukee. The march follows, ending at Forest Home Library, 1432 W. Forest Home Ave. in Milwaukee, where community members are now able to vote early for the first time thanks to a legal decision expanding voting rights.

Women leaders at the rally will share their perspectives as women and women of color on these elections, given the revelations of Donald Trump’s repeated offensive treatment of women. Testimony will include that of a female employee who has suffered workplace sexual harassment. Speakers will also call for immigrant and worker rights.

The march is part of a national effort coordinated by the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) and the SEIU to mobilize thousands of volunteers in 11 battleground states to elect pro-immigrant, progressive candidates. Both Voces de la Frontera Action and SEIU have endorsed Clinton and Feingold.
