Teen artists unveil bus mural Aug. 20 at MAM
ArtXpress, a Milwaukee Art Museum internship program run in partnership with RedLine Milwaukee, holds a special event on Aug. 20 unveiling a mural created by program participants for a Milwaukee County Transit System bus. The free event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Cudahy Gardens Plaza at MAM.
ArtXpress brings together a diverse group of teen interns to brainstorm social justice issues through art. The interns dedicate three weeks to creating the bus mural using printmaking techniques acquired from RedLine Milwaukee. The teens also mentored elementary students from Milwaukee Public Schools on the museum’s current feature exhibition, American Epics: Thomas Hart Benton and Hollywood.
The event also includes a teen poetry performance, as well as live music from Milwaukee’s own New Age Narcissism.
